Advocacy for Diverse and Climate Resilient Food Systems in Zambia

Projects

The Civil Society for Poverty Reduction (CSPR) in conjunction with Kasisi Agriculture Training Centre and with support from HIVOS has been implementing a project called ‘Advocacy for Diverse and Climate Resilient Food Systems in Zambia’. The project is part of the efforts for Voices for Just Climate Action (VCA). The aim of the project is by 2025, local civil society and underrepresented groups take a role as creators, facilitators and advocates for innovative climate solutions. This project is being implemented in the Rufunsa and Chongwe districts of Zambia. The expected impact of the project is for the Zambian food systems to be people-centered, sustainable, diverse and climate resilient by the year 2025.

Objectives:

  • Increase access to and utilisation of climate change information and data by Women, Youth, and Rural Farmers in Rufunsa and Chongwe by acquiring knowledge in agriculture and climate resilience programmes at local level by the year, 2023.
  • Promote the participation of rural community women, youth and farmers in the review and enactment of policies and legislation on climate change in Zambia.
  • Establish more spaces at national and subnational level for engagement of community members on planning and budgeting for climate change and environment protection programmes in Zambia.
