In developing countries such as Zambia, climate change has had a direct impact on vulnerable populations especially on vulnerable groups whose livelihoods are far more dependent on natural resources and who are the least capable of adapting to natural hazards resulting from climate change. It is therefore for this reason that the Civil Society for Poverty Reduction (CSPR) in its strategic area focuses on building capacity for rights holders’ trainings in Environmental and Climate Change and Resilience (ECCR). This intervention is due to increased impacts caused by climate change such as increased floods, dry spells and other climate related disasters increasing poverty and affecting livelihoods and food security. CSPR conducts evidence-based advocacy to government and local authorities for climate action. Furthermore, CSPR aims to popularise policies on climate change and climate financing to partners and communities for increased voice and accountability on climate change projects to create a more systematic approach towards strengthened resilience and climate change. It also facilitates access to climate information services and capacity building for the most vulnerable and rights holders, coordinating linkages to relevant authorities that disperse information on early warning systems, climate resiliency, climate financing and other relevant climate information.

Strategic Objective:  To strengthen the voice and capacity of the poor and vulnerable communities and popularise policy on climate justice so that they are able to mitigate the impact of climate change on their livelihoods.
