Luapula province consists of 15 constituencies and 12 Districts.

PROFILE OF EDUCATION

Luapula province has over, 323 208 students enrolled in both primary and secondary schools. Luapula province has 701 schools inclusive of both primary and secondary schools, only 23% of adolescent girls in the province completed secondary school compared to national average of 30%. Most Adolescent girls do not complete there secondary education because of teenage pregnancies and Early child marriages. Girls are married off at the age of 15.

PROFILE ON AGRICULTURE

Luapula province main activity is fishing and agriculture. More than half of the population are subsistence farmers. Cassava and maize are the main food crops in Luapula and to some extent cash crops. Besides cassava and maize, sorghum, millet, and rice and commonly grown.

SOCIAL PROTECTION PROFILE

The people of Luapula are social welfare beneficiaries, Luapula recorded the highest female-headed households in 2022, Luapula has over 125 000 households under social cash transfer program whose beneficiaries are getting k400 monthly for those above 64 years old, female headed household and children headed household. For those with disabilities and those who are chronically ill are paid k800 by monthly.

HEALTH PROFILE

Luapula province has about 148 health facilities, which include hospitals( first and second level), health centres and health posts which are owned by government, church and private sector.
